Some pages from our Government
In a world gone crazy with tips and generic information, I personally think that a lot of sites tend to ignore the end user. The person that just wants to have a little fun on the internet, but does not really know how things work or even why. Most don't really care how it works, they just want it to boot up and do the job they bought it for.
There is nothing more frustrating than "Hackers" or "Spammers" that take the fun out of the internet, making you have to either re-image .
One of the sites I have found for basic security principals is the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) web site, brought to us by The Department of Homeland Security. Here are a few links:
- Main site for the US-CERT
- Recognizing and Avoiding Email Scams
- Software License Agreements: Ignore at Your Own Risk
- Spyware
- Using Wireless Technology Securely
- Banking Securely Online
There is a lot more information on their site, probably more than most people can actually understand, but it is a very good resource.
