My name is Stephen Thetford, I currently work as a Network Administrator for a fairly large Information Technology company and have worked with computers in one form or another since 1989. Though I work primarily with Microsoft products and network hardware, I have played with a little Linux and Novel from time to time. For the most part, if it has a CPU, I have an interest in understanding it.

My interest in computing started, I think, in high school when I worked with the TRS 80 model 3 computers. After a number of years it picked up momentum again when my brother introduced me to the X286 computers, he and his friends were always trying to find new things to do with them and I was always in the background paying close attention.

I attended a class on Basic Electromechanical Theory in 1991 and then moved to the operating systems from there, starting with DOS. I would strongly suggest this type of class, it gives an insight to computers that no amount of programming can teach. Understanding the basic concepts of the "How it works" I believe can really give IT Professionals a good base to expand on.

I have other interests as well, such as wood working and movies, but other than finding time to be with my Wife, I tend to play with computers at work and at home.

I dedicate this page to my Wife, Susie. She has been the foundation of my life since we decided to be together. Other than my parents, there has never been a stronger influence in my life. Her unconditional love for me is in everything she does.
